The idea to provide quality consulting is born!

The idea to launch My Federal Prison Consultant originated in the early 1990's, while I was working as a case manager at the Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, NY.  Time after time, I observed inmates on my caseload pay substantial amounts of money to 'consultants' who wrote reports attorneys submitted to the sentencing judge.  They also represented offenders at Federal parole hearings to advocate for early release.  Some even alleged (and still do) they could get someone designated to a specific institution. Federal prison consulting was a novel concept at the time, and post-conviction consultants were few.  One thing I did notice was how little these "consultants" actually understood about the Federal prison system.  Most were ex-offenders who served time, had a very limited knowledge of the system, yet portrayed themselves as the experts. Think about being a patient in a hospital then coming out and practicing medicine!

I retired from the federal government in 2011, and am entering my 7th year of private consulting. My collaboration with other private entities, non-profits and other organizations have continued to flourish which has given me more opportunities to focus on my passion of Federal prison reform. My involvement with Prisonology has also allowed us to train federal defenders,  CJA attorneys  and even judges on BOP issues throughout the country from Alaska to Connecticut!   I converse with BOP officials on a weekly basis and serve on the corrections committees of the ABA & NACDL. I am up to the minute on federal prison issues and have a pulse on the system like no other.

I have worked in correctional settings for over 32 years and have accumulated a vast amount of practical information you will not get from any consultant. During my career, I consistently maintained a goal-oriented mindset which has been focused on one question alone:  How can I apply my skillset, knowledge and abilities in the private sector  to effectively assist offenders in preparing for their sentencing, surrender and subsequent navigation through the Federal Prison System?

In addition to my experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), I also worked as a Parole Officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where I supervised offenders, testified in court and prepared pre-sentence investigations. (known as the PSR or PSI)

I've personally seen many individuals get caught up in situations from bad advice which could have been avoided, had they turned to My Federal Prison Consultant for a proper pre-sentence consultation.  My experience, observations, and analysis working in the trenches of the Federal prison system have provided me the knowledge and experience to provide unparalleled services such as :

  • Thoroughly prepare offenders for incarceration & their Federal PSR Interview
  • Effectivelyassist incarcerated offenders and/or their attorneys dissect the intricacies of Bureau of Prisons Policy (ie: classification & designation
  • Systematically analyze  sentence computations for accuracy
  • Precisely list factors considered in the determination of program eligibility like the Residential Drug Treatment Program (RDAP)
  • Thoughtfully walk attorneys and offenders through programs such as Residential Re-entry Placement (RRC/Halfway House) and the Furlough Program.
  • Provide expert witness reports  and declarations on virtually any BOP related topic or program
  • Sex Offender preparation
  • Compassionate Release  (RIS-Reduction in Sentence) applications

I'M THE ONLY CONSULTANT TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARDS FROM THE   FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS

The years of hard work and practical experience I bring to the table is unique in the prison-consulting industry.  I have had assignments diverse environments, including, the Central Office in Washington DC (policy work groups & policy writing), the Regional Office in Philadelphia, PA (temporary duty assignments as Regional CIM Coordinator ) and the New York City Community Corrections Office to process Half-way House (RRC) referrals and designations. I have worked directly with  Administrative (pre-trial), Low, Medium, High,  Minimum (Camp) and Witness Security (WITSEC) populations.

Over the years, I've debriefed numerous white-collar offenders about their prison consulting experiences and have come to one conclusion: MOST, IF NOT ALL, 'CONSULTANTS'  PREY ON INDIVIDUALS AND ATTORNEYS BY CHARGING THEM FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EVEN MISINFORMATION!  Many of  the prison consulting businesses are operated by ex-offenders and high-level prison administrators. Their 'expertise' and perspective is narrow and limited. Don't be taken by the prison guide books, seemingly-sophisticated virtual tours, boot camps and all the smoke and mirrors that take advantage of anxious and desperate offenders. Believe it or not, I will actually sit down with you and/or your family, face -to-face, in a private office and discuss the issues most consequential to your situation.

Upon heeding My Federal Prison Consultant's advice, your fears and anxieties will subside, and you will soon take great comfort with the wealth of information you truly deserve to hear from a quality, experienced federal prison consultant.

If someone comes chasing after you by direct marketing with magic dust promising they can get you 8 months off your sentence, more halfway under the Second Chance Act inferring they can get you designated to a specific facility, turn and run because you being played!

I invite you to thoroughly review my site and the associated tabs, before you make an uninformed decision to hire a 'consultant'. Throughout the pages of my website, you will see exactly what sets me apart from the competition. I look forward to working with you to  clarifying the myths and rumors you've heard or read on the internet. I can help you and/or your Attorney avoid the detrimental and unfortunate advice you would have received from the many profiteers.

Understanding, as well as correctly applying, the hundreds of federal policies and guidelines, renders many benefits and advantages. Any number of goals can and will be accomplished within current policy. The high-quality, long-standing, professional service and advice I have provided to the federal prison population over the last two decades, will be the same high-quality, long-standing, professional service l provide to my clientele, as their private-sector, federal prison consultant. The big difference is I will be working for you, not the government, so I will not be constrained by the culture and dysfunctional bureaucracy.

I am located in lower Manhattan and very accessible to the Eastern & Southern Districts of New York, as well as the District of New Jersey. The 2 and 3 train stop under our building and the J,M,Z,4 and 5 trains stop in the immediate area. There are several parking garages in the immediate area and I have provided a link with the particulars on the links tab. I am also available to travel anywhere in the United States because I believe an in-person meeting between client and consultant is a necessity.
